Amlodipine besylate (NORVASC) is used to treat systemic hypertension in dogs and cats.  It acts as a calsium-channel blocker that relaces the areterial muscles to lower blood pressure.

Dosage:
Dogs:  2.5mg/dog or 0.1mg/kg every 24 hours orally.
Cats:  0.625mg/cat initially every 24 hours orally, and increase if needed to 1.25mg/cat.  Average recommeded dose for most cats is 0.18mg/kg once daily for hypertension.
